The Data Coordinating Center (DCC) provides comprehensive data-related services for clinical trials, epidemiological research, longitudinal research, and laboratory analyses. These services include:
- Customized data management solutions.
- Research Design
- Database Design and Implementation
- Development of Computer-based Data Entry Screens
- Data Entry and Verification
- Statistical Analysis & Report Generation
- Manuscript and Proposal Development
- Web-based Data Management Systems for Multi-Site Projects
The DCC provides comprehensive data management services to over 30 research projects, from 6 clinical trials, including 3 ongoing multi-center clinical trials to large community-based epidemiological studies, The DCC includes three major research centers on the Columbia medical center campus, and has expanded substantially over the past 10 years. The technical infrastructure, data-related expertise, and continuity of staffing and leadership available at the Data Coordinating Center, are the keys to our success.
The DCC manages design, implementation and maintenance of the database, data entry, editing, ongoing quality control of the data, generation of reports, staff training, interval database access for scientific personnel, back-up, and data security.
One of our many goals is o provide statistical and database management expertise in every phase of the project, from research design to preparation of publications and reporting.
Review and advise with respect to all data-related activities, including the design and content of case report forms (CRFs), subject recruitment, follow-up and retention, data accuracy completeness, planned analyses, research design, produce statistical files for analysis, selection of appropriate statistical tests, discussion of statistical output and manuscript review.
We maintain the highest standards of subject confidentiality, data security and data accuracy with respect to all computerized project information; monitor and ensure compliance with HIPAA and other emerging federal regulations with respect all data-related project activities.
In each and every database we provide range checking, logical checking, ID confirmation and structural checking at the time of data entry, with ongoing data verification. There are user-friendly data entry screens that pre-clean the data by enforcing range checks and logical checks on each data fields.
We work with each project to implement the best acces to the data. Several of the possibilites are through secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections to authorized project staff, or via a CITRIX Web Portal.
The center has been since 1989. In fact the original ADRC database was established in 1989, the first year of funding, and has been in continuous operation since that time, undergoing expansion to meet the data-related needs of the center, and meets current day reporting obligations to NACC
We specialize in medical research and currently manage data for major research projects in the following fields:
- Stroke
- Parkinson's Disease
- Alzheimer's Disease
- Lou Gehrig's Disease
